The people of India had suffered the cruel behavior of the Britishers for many years. Today we have freedom in almost all fields such as education, sports, transportation, business, etc just because of the years of struggle of our forefathers. Before 1947, people were not so free even they were restricted to have rights to their own bodies and mind. They were the slave of the Britishers and were forced to follow all their orders of them. Today we are free to do anything because of the great Indian leaders who struggled hard for many years to get freedom against British rule.

Independence day is celebrated all over India with much pleasure. This day is of great importance to all Indian citizens as it gives us an opportunity to remember all those freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives just for giving us a beautiful and peaceful life. Earlier to independence, people were not allowed to get an education, eat healthy food, and live a normal life like us. We should be grateful to those events responsible for freedom in India.

Secondly, we can pay tribute to them in the true sense of the term by dedicatedly working for our motherland and never performing any such deeds which may leave a blot on the integrity and dignity of our country. We are born here and being the citizens of our country it becomes our responsibility to bring glory and accolades to our country. This is called true patriotic fervor; we are not expected to be fanatics or to wage battles but to do whatever best we can in our capacity.

It doesn’t matter whether one is a doctor, engineer, teacher, or a pilot by profession, what matters is our honesty and hard work. How well we serve our motherland by discharging our duties well and not causing harm to any living individual and also by inculcating such virtues as compassion, feeling of brotherhood, truthfulness, etc. A person who is deceitful will not only malign his name but that of his family and nation as a whole. Our nation doesn’t need such people, but hardworking and honest individuals. So students – you being the youth and future of our country – are expected to follow the path of virtue and never let the country down.
